BIOGRAPHY

Formed in 1995 – Desert Child comprising the guitar talents of Guy Ghouse & Damian Watkiss

Both fuse a wide mix styles to create instrumental music which defies all contemporary genres. Both Guy’s and Damian’s parents played music together back in the early 1970’s and now the tradition continues.

The catalyst for their music was the formation and cultivation in the Kimberley town of Broome in North Western Australia. “Broome being such a tourist mecca, saw us exposed to a variety of people from all over the globe, we listened to so much music and were fortunate enough to jam with backpackers and touring acts who’s individual styles reflected so much of world, ethnic and music not played on mainstream radio…we were lucky”. The result is something quite unique and fresh. We have been fortunate enough to perform this music all over the world, from Edinburgh Festival, to Austin Texas to London to Asia and a variety of Australian Festivals.

Guy Ghouse & Damian Watkiss are two casual chaps with a shared love for music, good times and guitars.

"A spontaneous yet emotionally charged musical journey describes the uniqueness of Desert Child. The music is a blend of many styles. Their guitar brilliance will astound you, their melodies move you. Very funny, High energy, Very warm and extremely expressive and entertaining".

Desert Child take you on a music ride that will leave you breathless. Spontaneous musical outburst will have you laughing and cheering while Emotionally charged subtle melodies will have you in tears.
